One of the most impactful steps we can take to protect our shared environment is reducing our carbon footprint. At Boyd, we are proud of the significant progress we have made toward that goal.

Through our concerted efforts to reduce our electricity and natural gas consumption, Boyd has reduced our annual carbon emissions by more than 40% since 2017. Over the last four years alone, we have avoided nearly 55,000 metric tons of emissions – the equivalent of driving a car around the world nearly 5,500 times!

Louisiana is one of the most prominent states in the Boyd family, with four Boyd casinos spread across the state. An important part of that family is Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Opelousas, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

Evangeline Downs first began operations in 1966 as a racetrack in Carencro, Louisiana, before moving to its current home in Opelousas, Louisiana in 2005. And since Boyd’s acquisition of Evangeline Downs in 2012, Boyd and the Evangeline Downs team have been proud to serve Opelousas, the Lafayette area and the entire Acadiana region.

One of the four strategic pillars of our Corporate Responsibility initiative is our commitment to protecting the environment. As a Company, one of our most important environmental contributions is our water conservation program.

Since we began this program in 2017, our Company has reduced our water consumption by more than 374 million gallons a year – resulting in a cumulative savings of over 3 billion gallons across the country.

Across southern Nevada, where water conservation is critical, we have significantly lowered our water consumption through xeriscaping projects and new air-cooling technologies. General Manager Ron Bailey recently gave Norfolk TV station WAVY a sneak peek at ongoing construction on our best-in-class destination resort on the Norfolk waterfront.

WAVY viewers saw a project well underway to completion, as construction continues to go vertical at our waterfront site near downtown Norfolk.

Scheduled to open in late 2027, our upscale resort will feature a 65,000-square-foot casino, 200-room hotel, eight food & beverage outlets, live entertainment, and an outdoor amenity deck.
